Woodside Choir Receives Standing Ovation at Greater London Mental Health Event

Woodside Choir Receives Standing Ovation at Greater London Mental Health Event

Members of the Woodside Choir proudly represented the school at a special celebration and learning event for the Greater London Authority's Mental Health in Schools programme, held in partnership with the Anna Freud Centre.

Travelling to and from the event independently on public transport, the choir demonstrated confidence, teamwork and resilience before delivering a memorable performance. Their infectious enthusiasm encouraged delegates from across London to join in the singing, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere that culminated in a well-deserved standing ovation.

Woodside's involvement in the programme was led by Head of School (Secondary), Theresa Corcoran, who was invited to present at the event and showcase the wide range of initiatives Woodside has developed to support the mental health and wellbeing of its entire school community.

The event provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of schools participating in the programme, share best practice and highlight the importance of promoting positive mental health in education.

In a separate musical success over the weekend, another group of Woodside pupils performed with Bexley Music as part of Percussion Supersonic, showcasing their percussion skills alongside other young musicians. Their performance was another fantastic example of the talent, dedication and enthusiasm of Woodside's students.

Congratulations to all of our choir members for representing Woodside so brilliantly, to the pupils who performed with Bexley Music, and to Theresa Corcoran for sharing the school's inspiring work. These achievements reflect Woodside's commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and providing opportunities for every member of the school community to thrive.
